I've heard of him (Justice Kirby) and know about his biography, he's featured on the radio here in Australia. So I didn't read about that straight off.

I was drawn to read the articles on Dan Choi (an ex- US serviceman, and David Kato (the Ugandan GLBT activist).

It's not easy to shake off what we have been force fed since childhood to think for ourselves, and to step out into the world to define ourselves as who we are. Especially when you are taught that you should seek refuge from your family in times of trouble. If by taking that step, the door to your family becomes closed, then you feel very vulnerable. If some or all of those you know and love choose to re-open the door, then that's even better. If not we will just have to learn to live with it.

Some great reading here, I intend to return for more later.
