Can they do the job? That should be all that should matter. That said, I, too, would have more confidence if my female mechanic looked more like a man than a woman; butch, muscular, ... I think I have blogged about that type of man.
Sorry this was supposed to be about women. Oops.
LOL, I am a man, but there are things that I see my mechanic doing that I know even I will have some difficulty in achieving.
I still think that there is a reason why men are more robustly muscular than women. But then, a butch, muscular woman? Well, maybe..
As you said, if they can do the job, well....
Speaking as a female mechanic... There are tools now that can turn almost any tough job into a manageable one. Oh and I like to think I do not look like a man haha!! I definitely don't bitch and moan as much as some of my male coworkers either! Yes of course there are some jobs that are too difficult but they are few and far between you just can't be shy to ask for help.
